The weekend is in sight, the weather forecast is good and the anticipation for the barbecue is increasing. And even if you can smell the culinary delight, there are a few things to consider: from preparation, to grilling without a grill, to a smart packing list for grilling trips. Whether on a city balcony or a fireplace in the countryside: You can read in this blog article how barbecue enjoyment can be a complete success everywhere.

Preparation is key

If you prepare your grilling well, you will definitely save yourself unnecessary stress on the grill. The most banal tasks, such as sticking skewers, marinating grilled food, cutting vegetables, washing lettuce and pre-mixing dressing, are much easier in a kitchen than outdoors. Our tip for everyone who wants to get maximum flavour: let fish, meat or poultry soak overnight in a finely tuned spice brine and pour dressing over the salad just before eating to enjoy it as crispy as possible.

Tips for outdoor grillers

When you have everything to hand, grilling anywhere is more relaxed. Without a lighter, the fun of grilling on the go is likely to be over quickly, and a kitchen roll can also work wonders outside the kitchen. In order to keep the grilled food nice and cool on the way into the countryside, we recommend packing frozen water bottles and chilled drinks in the cooler bag as a replacement or in addition to the cooling elements. And to ensure that burger patties keep their shape, you can let them freeze a little before packing. The general rule for Pack-1×1 is: reusable is better than disposable.

Zange

No rust, no problem

The Swiss army knife among grill enthusiasts without a grill is clearly the fish tongs – they are perfect for holding steaks, sausages, asparagus or (vegetable) skewers, and you can turn several pieces at once when grilling. It is best to only equip the fish tongs when the charcoal is hot enough – around 30 minutes after lighting. Please note: grilled food with bones has priority because it takes longer than the rest.

Grilled vegatables from the basket

Whether on a professional grill, on a campfire or a disposable grill: When grilling vegetables, you would almost have to rename the frying basket to the grill basket because it is so well suited to grilling vegetables evenly on all sides. Our tip: To marinate everything before grilling, you can put it together with a pre-mixed marinade in a sealable container and shake everything well.

Bananen

Sweets from the grill

So that even those with a sweet tooth don’t miss out on grilling, there are no limits to creativity! It tastes 1000 times better than it looks, but there’s nothing better for a sweet finish than chocolate bananas. The shell serves as protection against burning, and the heat slowly melts the chocolate chips placed inside. Have fun trying it out!
